High Fructose Corn Syrup Ha!

For a good laugh I thought I would take a look at what the Corn Refiners Association of America had to say about High Fructose Corn Syrup. I was not disappointed Here is a excerpt:

Myth: High fructose corn syrup is to blame for obesity and causes diabetes.
Reality: There is no scientific evidence to suggest that high fructose corn syrup is uniquely responsible for people becoming obese.

Oh really, so no scientific evidence. I guess it is just coincidence that it is in so many "kids foods" And look at what is happening to America's kids.

Just a reminder to know who is giving you facts. Of course the Corn Refiners of America want you to eat HFCS. It is made from corn!

Here is another good one:

Myth: High fructose corn syrup is not natural.
Reality: High fructose corn syrup is made from corn — a natural grain product. High fructose corn syrup contains no artificial or synthetic ingredients or color additives and meets the Food and Drug Administration’s requirements for use of the term “natural.”

Oh so as long as it meets the "Food and Drug Administration's" requirements of what is natural, then it must be natural (eye roll).

Here are some real facts:

HFCS is GMO-corn based too! It has been shown that GMO products alter the bacteria in the gut after only one exposure. HFCS is terrible on our insulin/sugar regulation system, also.

"Rats with access to high-fructose corn syrup gained significantly more weight than those with access to table sugar, even when their overall caloric intake was the same."

"HFCS now represents more than 40 percent of caloric sweeteners added to
foods and beverages and is the sole caloric sweetener in soft drinks in
the United States."
